We make the flavour ourselves,
in Southport, Queensland.
VKA® Australia is a flavour manufacturer in Southport, Queensland, crafting flavours since 2002. We develop, blend and supply custom flavours for food and beverage makers across Australia and New Zealand, with five decades of flavour-science depth behind us.
A flavour manufacturer, not a reseller.
We develop and manufacture flavours under our own roof in Southport, Queensland. From the first brief to the drum on your pallet, the people doing the work sit in the same building.
Custom Flavour Development
Our flavourists work the bench in Southport, building custom flavours to your brief, your application and your label position. Naturals first, with a five-decade flavour-science library to draw on.
Application Work On Site
Bench prototypes and small-scale trials run alongside R&D, so the flavour and the application are developed together. Beverages, dairy, bakery, confectionery and savoury, all in-house.
Manufacturing in Southport
Blending, filling and despatch happen on our Southport site, alongside the lab. The team that made the flavour is the same team that runs the batch.
Supply Across Australia and New Zealand
Local stockholding, local lead times and a local technical contact. We supply food and beverage makers across Australia and New Zealand from Southport.
From brief to drum, in five stages.
A clear path from your brief to a flavour we manufacture for you. Same stages for a single top-note refinement or a full beverage system.
Discovery
We sit down with the brief, the application, the consumer and the FSANZ labelling picture for Australia and New Zealand.
Formulation
Our Southport flavourists work up initial directions, with quick iterations informed by bench tastings and smelling-strip evaluation.
Application & Sensory
We trial each candidate in your matrix, push it through process and pack, and bring it past a trained sensory panel before sign-off.
Scale-Up
From bench to pilot to first production batch in Southport, with the flavourist on the line as the scale shifts.
Commercial Supply
Ongoing manufacturing, QA documentation and the same technical contact for the life of the product.
Built for the categories Australian and Kiwi makers actually ship.
Custom flavours and application support across the categories our customers work in. Liquid and powder formats, naturals-led where the brief allows.
Beverages
Soft drinks, RTDs, waters, juices, dairy drinks and functional beverages. Stability through pasteurisation, carbonation and shelf, in PET, can and glass.
Dairy & Desserts
Yoghurts, cultured drinks, ice cream, custards and desserts. Flavours tuned for fat profile, sweetness curve and cold-chain shelf.
Bakery
Sweet and savoury bakery, fillings and toppings. Heat-stable systems built to survive the oven and read true on bite.
Confectionery
Gummies, hard-boiled, chocolate inclusions and chews. High-impact flavours that hold up through cook and through wrapper.
Savoury & Snacks
Snacks, seasonings, meals and meat alternatives. Savoury notes and kokumi work, with reduced-sodium support where the brief asks for it.
Why a local flavour manufacturer matters for AU/NZ makers.
Most of the global flavour houses do not manufacture in Australia. Buying from offshore means longer lead times, freight risk, and a technical contact in another time zone. A flavour manufacturer in Australia changes that.
Shorter Lead Times
Samples from Southport, not from a hub overseas. Production batches sit closer to your factory, so re-orders and revisions move faster.
Regulatory Fit Under FSANZ
Labelling guidance and specifications worked to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (FSANZ). One documentation set for both markets, not a US/EU translation.
Technical Support On The Ground
When your QA needs to talk to our technical team, the call is in your time zone. When a flavourist needs to visit your line, the visit is a drive, not a long-haul flight.
Supply Resilience
Local manufacturing dampens the freight, FX and customs shocks that bite imported supply. Our Southport site holds finished stock for ongoing programmes.
Common questions from NPD and procurement.
Do you manufacture flavours in Australia?
Yes. VKA Australia develops and manufactures flavours in Southport, Queensland. Custom flavour development, application work and blending all happen on the same site, supplied across Australia and New Zealand.
Where is your factory?
Unit 1, 19 Harvest Court, Southport, Queensland 4215. The R&D and applications lab, the bench, the blending floor and despatch all sit on the one site on the Gold Coast.
What's your minimum order quantity?
We work across a range of batch sizes, from samples and pilot quantities through to ongoing commercial supply. There is no single MOQ. Bring us the application and the expected volume and we'll come back with what's workable.
What categories do you manufacture for?
Beverages, dairy and desserts, bakery, confectionery, and savoury and snacks. Liquid and powder formats, naturals-led where the brief allows. Flavours are developed against the application so they hold up through your process and pack.
Do you supply to New Zealand?
Yes. New Zealand is a primary market alongside Australia. We supply Kiwi food and beverage makers from Southport, with labelling and specifications worked to the joint Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (FSANZ) so the documentation fits both markets.
How quickly can you turn a sample around?
We come back inside one business day with a fit read on the brief and a sample direction from our Southport team. Sample turnaround beyond that depends on the application complexity. We'll tell you a realistic timeline once we've seen the brief.
What regulatory documentation do you provide?
Technical specifications, ingredient declarations and labelling guidance worked to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (FSANZ), allergen statements, and storage and handling notes. Additional documentation is available on request when your QA team needs to talk to ours.
How do I request a quote or a sample?
Send us the brief through the contact form, or ring the Southport office. Useful detail to include: the application, your expected volumes, the label position (natural, nature-identical), the shelf and pack format, and any constraints you're already working to.
